One reviewer says they are the best bagels in the whole country. With the cost of living crisis continuing to push up the price of just about everything, many of us are looking for cheaper meals out so that we can continue supporting small businesses without spending too much money. The good news is, here in Essex there are plenty of dining options that aren't going to break the bank.

According to TripAdvisor, the best 'Cheap Eat' in the whole of the county is a small bagel shop found in Wickford. Beans and Bagels is also rated the top restaurant in all of Wickford on the review site, with a star rating of 5/5 and 90 excellent reviews.

This cafe describes itself as 'a local family-run business that specialises in coffee and bagels' with a menu full of tasty dishes. You can find bagels with salt beef, tuna mayo, smoked salmon, coronation chicken and more, there's something for everyone.

As well as bagels, you can also get jacket potatoes with a variety of toppings, cakes, milkshakes, afternoon tea and of course their 'famous' coffee. Reviewers of Beans and Bagels describe the food as incredible and the service as going above and beyond.

One reads: "The bagels are incredible. Soft, lightly toasted and filled to the gill with toppings. Great customer service, great bagels and that's not even going on about the hot drinks!!!! Incredible bagels, lovely atmosphere. The perfect bagel experience!"

Another says: "Beans and bagels in Wickford is a fab bagel shop, with great friendly staff and fab food. The service was fast and the food really tasty. Would definitely recommend!"

A third customer wrote: "Lovely cafe to eat in. Staff are friendly, happy and helpful. Great selection of bagels and you can create your own too. Coffee and milkshakes are great quality. Clean and tidy cafe. My favourite place to eat at lunchtime and can have takeaway and delivery too."
